As a small ecotourism company we support sustainable tourism which implies none-intrusive bird-watching, respect for the environment and the fauna and flora within it, the conservation of our local heritage and direct economic benefits for local inhabitants. It is low-impact tourism for small groups in which the emphasis is to enjoy much more than birding: butterflies and other fauna, flora and gorgeous landscapes, ancient trees, local hospitality and fantastic food are all part of the deal. Ā And if you’ve been learning Spanish and want to practise, this is the perfect way to immerse yourself in the culture whilst you enjoy a great birding holiday.

See you soon!

If youā€™re looking for some guided birding whilst you’re on holiday, or just a quiet break from seeing the sights with a few hours of bird or nature watching and gorgeous scenery away from the crowds, then youā€™ve come to the right place.

You can book us at Birding in Spain’s Wild West – Ver Aves for a full or half dayā€™s birding and we can recommend places to stay in friendly rural accommodation: all birder-friendly and of the highest standard with competitive rates.Ā

Ecotourism or nature tourism is the best way to enjoy nature at the same time as supporting the fragile economy of rural communities and the conservation of local biodiversity.Ā  In order for this type of tourism to be really sustainable, we have designed a Decalogue of Good Practices to be applied by both guides and eco-tourists. You can see them in the document below.

Access statement

We recognize that everybody has a right to enjoy travelling and experiencing nature directly, and we do our best to design accessible routes so that anyone is welcome to come out with us, and expect the same high quality services, adapted to suit their needs.Ā  We also strive to spread this message amongst the people we work with, so that in the future there will be more accessible places providing accommodation and restaurant services in our region, as well as infrastructures such as bird observatories and hides.

We had the best day with Vega and her partner Alfonso – organised at short notice as we were in the area and wanted a guide with in-depth knowledge of the terrain and its possibilities. We could not have been luckier.

Booked a trip June 2016 looking for great bustard as well as other species not easily found in UK. Tour exceeded expectationsā€¦ I would highly recommend a tour with Vega and Alfonso whoĀ are very experienced and knowledgeable.

Though we had small expectations for the day, given the time of year–the major fall migration has yet to startā€¦. and a windy day, the trip produced over 45 species of birds, including most on my listā€¦ Just as importantly, the two guides are excellent companions, and the countryside lovely.
